About this event
JOIN US ... Ladies and Gentlemen - Win or Lose?
In the past, gamblers went to the church bingo hall or traveled to casinos but today in addition to bingo halls and casinos, gambling has many forms from lotteries and Native American gaming to high tech - high growth sports betting. Even Disney’s ESPN is joining in! But’s who’s really winning and what is the economic impact for the various stakeholders?
Dr. John Holden, professor at the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University, will discuss how the emergence of legalized on-line sports gambling has transformed a lucrative black market into an open market of winners and losers with documented, taxable transactions. Who’s winning? Who’s losing? and how can states balance the conflicting interests of preserving individual autonomy while protecting societal welfare.
